Bookclub Picks!

So I wanted to share my picks for the next three months now I'm a little more organised.   Here we go:

   June:

The Secret history of Wonder Woman by Jill Lepore. To be posted about on the last Friday of June (the 26th). I know almost nothing about this, but have wanted to read it for a while. It's about Wonder Woman, who is a character that I know almost nothing about either, so I am looking forward to reading it.

   July:

Re Jane: A Novel by Patricia Park. To be posted about on the last Friday of July (which is the 31st). I am a big Jane Eyre fan and this is a re imaging of it set in modern times. I am really looking forward to this, it looks good.

   August:

Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson. To be posted about on the last Friday of August (which is the 28th). I've heard that this is amazing, and I really want to read it, so I've picked this for August. I'm really looking forward to it.

I was looking at the book stuff on Buzzfeed and found this post. What I think it great about this is how varied it is, there is something for everyone. Buzzfeed asked multiple people what book made them sweat (the good kind). Whatever floats your boat there is something there to look at, plus I am all for book lists, especially hot books. Some Stuff

It is a sad day to me, as the UK election has just gone past and it is a Conservative majority, which means in the UK we have 5 years of David Cameron being the spokesperson and leader for the country. I have to remember though for me, though it may be a sad day for me, many people are happy with the outcome. I am not going to disparage those who voted for him. Still, it remains a sad day for me.

Sometimes there is only one thing to do and that is at least to be heard (by the two people who read this :)).

In other news, I found out that there is a new book out called Re Jane: A novel by Patricia Park. I am really excited about this as it's a modern adaptation of Jane Eyre. What I've heard about it, I am sticking this on my list of books for Bookclub.

I am going to a post about Bookclub next week, so people know what I am picking for the next three months, I am sorry I've been so lax about it. I was sick for about a week at the end of March, beginning of April, but have been fine for the past month. I have been super in a haze about a lot of stuff, I have only come out of it to be honest in the last week or so. I am blaming Laurann Dohner and the audio books I have been listening to. Her books are quite sex heavy, and big on Alpha's so that might not be your cup of tea, but I really enjoyed them. I like her exploration of the Paranormal in the New Species series.

I also re-watched While You Were Sleeping this week. It remains one of my favourite romantic comedies, I still laugh at the dinner scene every time.

And just for fun here is a picture of a book wallpaper that caught my eye:

I found this on YouTube this week, it's a parody of Agony (the Into the Woods song), it made me laugh so much. You can find it here:

Bookclub! Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay

So bookclub is super late (this book was supposed to be discussed at the end of March then I said it was going to be April it is now the beginning of May just argh). So I am really sorry that I have not gotten my act together for the past two months. Anyway two weeks late, Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay.

I really liked this, it's not always easy to read, but I really enjoy her essays and her perspective about all the topics that she discusses. I tend to want to call myself a Bad Feminist as well after reading this. It's a great book and something that I am going to be re-reading for years.
